Dr. Robert Coles on Moral Intelligence
Robert Coles is a professor of psychiatry and medical humanities at the Harvard Medical School and a research psychiatrist for the Harvard University Health Services. His many books include the Pulitzer Prize-winning five-volume CHILDREN OF CRISIS, THE MORAL INTELLIGENCE OF CHILDREN and THE SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE OF CHILDREN. Cole’s accomplishments have gained him the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction (1973), a MacArthur Award (1981), the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1998), and the National Humanities Medal (2001).
He has written over seventy-five books, writes regular columns in The New Republic, New Oxford Review, American Poetry Review and co-founded the magazine DoubleTake. Coles is also the James Agee Professor of Social Ethics at Harvard.
