Her Majesty Queen Noor on Cross-Cultural Understanding
Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan is an international humanitarian activist and an outspoken voice on issues of cross-cultural understanding, peace, and justice.
Queen Noor plays a major role in promoting international exchange and understanding of Arab and Muslim culture and politics, Arab-Western relations, disarmament, and conflict prevention. Her conflict recovery and peace-building work over the past decade has focused on the Middle East, the Balkans, Central and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
The initiatives of the Noor Al Hussein Foundation (NHF) which she chairs have transformed development thinking in Jordan in the areas of poverty eradication, education, women’s empowerment, microfinance, and arts for social development, many of which are internationally acclaimed models. Queen Noor also chairs the King Hussein Foundation (KHF), founded to build on King Hussein’s humanitarian vision and legacy in Jordan and abroad through programs that promote education, leadership, and cross-cultural understanding.
She has published two books, Hussein of Jordan and Leap of Faith: Memoirs of an Unexpected Life, a New York Times bestseller published in fifteen languages.
