Joe Torre on Safe Homes

Joe Torre is manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He led them to the 2008 division title and their !rst playoff series win in twenty years. Torre spent the previous twelve seasons as manager of the New York Yankees. The Yankees made the playoffs every year under his tenure, and he led them to six World Series appearances during the twelve-year span, win-ning four World Series Championships.

Torre is a three-time AP Manager of the Year Award winner and in 1996 was named Sportsman of the Year by the Sporting News. During his seventeen-year playing career, Torre was a nine-time All-Star, a Gold Glove–winning catcher, and was the National League’s Most Valuable Player in 1971.

He is the co-author of three books: Chasing the Dream: My Lifelong Journey to the World Series; Joe Torre’s Ground Rules for Winners: 12 Keys to Managing Team Players, Tough Bosses, Setbacks, and Success; and The Yankee Years.

In 2002, Torre and his wife, Ali, launched the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation, whose mission is educating to end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives.
